Those who’s faces you rarely see, that complete this dojo…

In order to succeed, a martial artist needs a community of friends and supporters.  I have been blessed throughout the years by many martial artists, friends and family members that have shared their wisdom and skill. Although there are too many people to list them all, a few I would like to acknowledge:

Steve Banchick

8th Degree Black Belt, (master instructor) in Uechi Ryu Karate and a Massachusetts state certified physical education teacher. Steve has been crafting his art since 1970 with training in both the U.S. and Okinawa. He was awarded the coveted Shihan Master Instructor’s Certificate from the Okinawan test board. Steve has served as my mentor, always offering his expertise in martial skill and business. He has kept my eye on the traditional side of martial arts, keeping me mindful of our martial arts roots. Some of the content of this website comes directly from Steve. It was 8 years ago that Steve recommended that I build a website…I can be a slow learner and he is the most patient man.

Sensei Alexander de Araya, 8th dan Hanshi,  of the Kokusai Kenyukan Goju Ryu Karate – Kobudo Kai, Kenyukan So Honbu, Sydney Australia has been studying martial arts for the past 46 years. He was honored with admission to the Dai Nippon Butokukai in 2009. Alex has been of great inspiration and motivation to bring this website to fruition. I thank him particularly for his contributions to my mission statement.

Mark Madison – Shodan. Mark joined Rising Sun in 2015 and has become a great friend. He trains weekly and teaches bi-weekly. Both the kids program and adaptive program have benefited from his watchful eye and critique. My favorite IT person, he always has the answers.

Karen Davoren for sharing her years of martial arts and friendship.

Fabio Rosi for the endless hours he has dedicated to this website and dojo. Without his talent and ability, this creative endeavor would be a fraction of what it is today.

Fred Gandolfo of Coastal Fire Systems, Inc for his assistance and generosity in finding adaptive safety equipment

To my family: Bob, Christin and Lindsay – your unending support, encouragement and inspiration  which makes all of this possible.

In closing, I must recognize the numerous parents and families that make up our dojo. The generosity, kindness and support you give me, the programs and the children are so appreciated.
